The Motorola Droid Turbo is receiving an update today that, despite not bringing the device up to Android 5.0 Lollipop, does include some very welcome additions to Verizon’s latest flagship Android device.
Today’s update, which should bring your Droid Turbo up to build 21.44.8, includes support for two highly desirable calling features Verizon has been pushing hard lately. The two features go hand-in-hand on Verizon and complete the company’s vision for next-generation networking. The first is the self-explanatory VoLTE, which allows you to places voice calls over Verizon’s LTE network. The second is Advanced Calling 1.0. Advanced Calling is more like a suite of new features that allow users to do things like place voice calls, make conference calls, use HD Voice and simultaneously use voice and data, all right from the stock dialer app.
The update also comes with the regular stability, security and performance fixes most Verizon updates include. It’s not entirely clear how this update will be rolling out, but there are users who are already reporting seeing the update. If your Motorola Droid Turbo sees an update in the next couple days, let us know in the comments below.
