HTC releases Q4 2014 results, third consecutive quarterly profit

HTC has posted its Q4 2014 results and things are looking up for the company. HTC’s net profits came in at NT$470 million ($14.67 million USD), which is higher than the estimated NT$330.2 million that was predicted by analysts. That’s a notable increase from the NT$315.3 million ($9.8 million USD) that came in during Q4 2013. Total revenue was also up at NT$47.87 billion ($1.34 billion USD). Total operating profit for HTC came out to NT$180 million ($5.6 million USD).

The fourth quarter is a positive sign for HTC, indicating that its current strategy is working. Over the last two years, HTC has worked to cut costs within the company. In 2014, HTC launched a strong push into mid-range and developing markets with its Desire line of devices, which have sold well. This is in addition to continued sales of HTC’s high-end products, such as the HTC One (M8).

HTC isn’t out of the woods, though. The company’s sales have still continued to decline, even if the slide has slowed down significantly. It’s going to take a lot of work to reverse that slide, but HTC seems optimistic about its plan for 2015, having stated that “HTC’s 2015 roadmap will be our best ever”.
