The Verge 2 now offers eSIM support, something the original Verge smartwatch didn’t offer. That means you can use the Verge 2 as a standalone device to make and receive calls. According to Huami, the new smartwatch is compatible with all major carriers in China. We don’t know whether the global version retains the eSIM support.
Another major upgrade is a real-time electrocardiogram (ECG). The Verge 2 features a custom always-on AI chip with a cardio biometrics engine for more accurate heart rate monitoring. The chip also allows for real-time ECG screening for abnormalities like arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation.
For the privacy minded, Huami said that up to 60 minutes of ECG data is stored locally for seven days.
